課程概述

A new approach to learning English using a learner centered, topic based communicative approach which meets the current needs of NTU students. All four skills are given equal importance. The course is based on (a) course work: using a text book, with readings, listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary work and (b) project work involving presentations, role plays and group discussions. Part (a) is teacher led, part (b) is student led 

課程目標
1. Well balanced development of language skills, especially listening and speaking.
2. Learn new reading and listening skills
3. Improve paragraph and essay writing.
4. Acquire discussion skills
5. Develop critical thinking skills
6. Learn public speaking
7. Practise making Powerpoint presentations in English
8. Examine and analyze important social issues 
課程要求
1. Regular class attendance: language skills are not acquired quickly.
2. Students will be divided into groups of 5. Each group must:
(a) Give ONE Powerpoint presentation
(b) Perform ONE role-play
(c) Devise questions for ONE class discussion
(d) Organize and lead ONE group discussion
(e) Show and comment on ONE video clip
3. Complete 8 homework assignments
4. Write 3 essays
